Here at Academy Pet Hospital, we are proud to help your cats by giving them first aid. We gladly serve Academy Pet Hospital and the surrounding communities.
If your cat is ill or in an accident, having steps that you can take prior to bringing him or her into the veterinarian can help a lot.
First, make sure that you stay calm. Your cat will be able to tell if you are panicking, and it may be harder for you to focus on the task at hand. Take a deep breath and work carefully and quickly.
Second, make sure that your cat stays warm. If he or she has experienced any trauma such as a broken limb or is showing any neurological symptoms, this is very important.
Third, contact your veterinarian. If you have some first aid supplies already, make sure that you put the number of your veterinarian among them as well. This will save you time. If you are unsure of what type of first aid supplies to have in your home, feel free to give us a call, and we can walk you through it.
Fourth, if your cat is unable to walk or move much, you will want to be sure to handle him or her carefully while transporting him or her to and in your car. Place your cat gently into a container or a box and have blankets to keep them stable.
Last, you will drive to your veterinarian. Make sure that you do not rush. The last thing that you need is to be in an accident that could result in something much worse.
Our entire staff is dedicated to the safety of your cat. We are all animal lovers and will treat your cat with the love and care that he or she deserves. We are always here to answer your questions.
