Here at Academy Pet Hospital, we are proud to assist you in caring for your adult cat. We are happy to help patients in Albuquerque, NM and the surrounding communities.
Caring for an adult cat takes responsibility. It is much different than caring for a kitten. If you are just bringing the adult cat into your home for the first time, make sure that you give it some time to warm up to you and the surroundings. Cats like the environment that they are in to be familiar, so when they are put into a new one it can be stressful for them.
If you have had your cat for some time, but have noticed he or she has aged, your cat may require some additional attention. Make sure that you bring him or her to your veterinarian so that they can perform a checkup. This is important to ensure that your cat is in good health and up to date with all vaccinations.
As cats age, they also typically sleep more. Make sure that you are not giving your cat as many treats as you used to, or he or she may put on weight quickly. Treats should not take up more than five to ten percent of a cat’s diet. Having toys out for your cat to play with will also encourage him or her to exercise.
Our entire staff is made up of people who love cats. We understand that your cat is a part of your family, and want to do everything that we can to assist you in helping him or her live a long and happy life. If you ever see your cat vomit or have diarrhea, this is a sign that something is wrong and you should call us immediately.
We are always available to answer any of your questions. If you are looking for someone to talk to about your cat, you can always call us; if you ever have any questions, we are always here to help as well.
